SMCTA ExCo had a meeting with MOT's Senior Parliamentary Secretary (SPS), Mr. Baey Yam Keng on 27-Jan-2021. Both EM Adoption and COE issues were discussed.

The 2040 vision articulated at Government Budget 2020 was to phase out Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles (i.e. including motorcycles) and have all vehicles run on cleaner energy by 2040.

As of now, the authority has confirmed the ban of sales in 2030 target would exclude motorcycles. Both MOT and SMCTA agreed to monitor the global EM developments.
